About this project

Our Mission

DFRAMED was born from a very simple idea: Instead of getting people coming to the art, let’s bring art to the people. Everywhere, everyday. We do this by taking their art out of its frame and with such care and attention to transform it into a new piece, a Print on Fabric that you will enjoy wearing.

In a few words, we turn art into clothes and clothes into art.

At our core we are art lovers who are dedicated to spreading the art amongst the masses in new and exciting ways. So much art is tucked away in museums and galleries where the majority of the population miss out on experiencing them and these days most emerging artists don’t get the chance they deserve for the simple fact that they don’t know the right people or have the right connections.

We are aiming to help new artists by giving them a platform to display their skills.

Educational

Art is important to us and for that reason we need to nurture and help the next generation. With this in mind it is our aim to get students in all aspects of the creative industries to work together: including but not limited to fashion designers, photography students, business and art students. It is alongside these people that emerging artists will be able to thrive and create theconnections necessary to succeed. We want to work alongside students for what in most cases will be their first professional experience in the fashion industry, giving them a real insight into the world of fashion whilst showcasing their work online, in stores and most importantly on the street when customers are wearing their limited edition garments. For every sale we make the artist gets a percentage of the retail price paid back to them to help them continue with their next project.

Limited

At DFRAMED we understand art is not something that should be mass produced. We don’t want to just sell tee-shirts, we are selling Art Pieces. In the same way that you would buy a print on paper now you can now buy a print on fabric.

  • Limited Editions

All of our DFRAMED prints are precious and just as with traditional prints each of our tee shirts are numbered and certified but not only that we never print more than 100 pieces of any style.Sustainability is important to us and limited editions mean that each garment you buy from us is special, never overproduced and will not end up in sales at ridiculous prices.

  • Curated

To get the perfect print we work alongside the artist to reinvent their work combined with fabric. Artists put so much effort into their work so we feel we should do the same when whilst creating our clothing therefore we don’t simply print the painting on a tee shirt, we rework the original craft to create a new piece and we will do it time and time again until the artist, designer and the collection manager all agree that the original piece has now been DFRAMED.

  • Earth Positive

In this day and age it’s a no brainer that we have to work with eco friendly material. Our fabrics, our inks are at best 100% from recycled material, at worst they fall under the “Earth Positive” classification: 100% Organic Products, 90% Reduced Carbon Footprint, 100% VerifiedEthical Manufacturing

All of our ranges are strictly limited and this allows us to never overproduce any style meaningless waste and less impact on the planet.

The Printing Process

As each artist has such variations in the way they work and the style they use, we use different printing processes and often end up mixing the techniques to produce something different, something original.

All of our garments are printed by hand in the U.K.

Chose your favorites! Fill in the short survey and let us know what are your favorite designs!

Risks and challenges

The main challenge for DFRAMED will be to be working with students. We already have fantastic feedback from institutions like the UAL, who are eager to see that kind of collaborative projects coming to life but getting the work done, in timely fashion and where the interest of the designer and the artist are both at stake will, I am sure, provoque various interesting debates. And that is exactly where we want to go: reinvent fashion.
